Trilogy Overview
Bombay Deathtrap was created after a trip to India in 2000.I had always held a facination for the country, culture, and people. After making travel plans.the US State Dept issued a warning for Americans traveling to the region,as there was a threat of war between Pakistan and India the time U.S.relations around the world was tenuous at best, and there was a growing resentment towards American tourists.I was once instructed while working in the theater to:"be brave".I moved ahead with my plans, and thus began the journey and vision to realize this series of films.I found india to be a fascinating country.Mystical, magical a mixture of the past and present. Regal, foreboding, spiritual, and most importantly - a country proud of its heritage and history.
I made friends prior to arrival and let me give thanks to the Forester family of Pune (Jackie Jolly and Bertie),Rogesh, and their friends, without whom I would not have had the luxury of traveling without problems taking photos,or visiting key destinations. This story idea or as a Columbia executive once said regarding a different project:"this germ of an idea" came to fruition after visiting several fortresses. The sheer size, design, opulence, and impenetrable layout was truly astounding! Some in the neighborhood of 650,000 square feet. The initial premise began to take shape upon my return to Los Angeles, and I began to slowly flesh out the story. The initial film has undergone numerous changes starting from the idea to a synopsis, treatment, first draft, and subsequent rewrites, character development, and story extensions that has allowed me to extend this riveting tale into 3 parts. Each film story extension is a closely connected thread, powerful and compelling enough to stand on its own merit.
